The300: Rise of an Empire true story reveals that unlike what is shown in the movie, the real Artemisia did not die at the hands of Themistocles in the Battle of Salamis. She survived the battle and did not meet her fate while engaging in combat. While Artemisia I of Caria did not perish in battle, it is unclear how she actually died.
Whilethe events of '300' were taking place, the events of 'Rise of An Empire' were going on elsewhere. There's an abundance of slow-motion that kind of hinders the film a bit, but otherwise, this is an enjoyable movie which ties pieces of it's predecessor together.
Thebattle lasted for about 3 days and after which all 300 Spartans were killed. The Spartan defeat was not the one expected, as a local shepherd, named Ephialtes, defected to the Persians and informed Xerxes of a separate path through Thermopylae, which the Persians could use to outflank the Greeks.
